About the event

NOTE: Course meets over four dates (4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30) from 6:30pm to 8:00pm CDT.

This immersive training program is designed to fortify the capabilities of “current and considering” nonprofit board members, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and strategic insights needed to drive organizational success and social impact. Over the course of the four-week program, participants will delve into the following areas:

Week One:

The Nonprofit Context & Basics

Gain knowledge of what differentiates a 501 c 3 organization from others; understand "mission as metrics;" and the unique value and role nonprofits serve.

Week Two:

Board Roles & Responsibilities

Understand expectations; conflicts of interest; "5 Nonprofit Dysfunctions;" IRS compliance: and Roberts Rules of Order

Week Three:

Building a Diverse, Inclusive, Equitable Board

Appreciate the value of diversity; managing diversity of thought; fostering respectful conversations; and recruitment strategies

Week Four:

Successful Board/Staff Relations

Executive director/board relations; and knowing when to "stay in your lane."
